Posh U21s will look to return to winning ways as they face a trip to East Lancashire.

Peterborough United U21s travel to Burnley Training Centre on Monday afternoon (3pm) as they face Burnley U21s in the Professional Development League and will look to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

The under 21s suffered a 2-0 defeat to Coventry City in their previous league fixture last Tuesday at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Posh currently sit eighth in the table, but remain four points off Birmingham City in fifth having played two fewer games.

The Clarets have also failed to win in their last two league fixtures, falling to defeats against Sheffield United and Barnsley, but still remain in the hunt for second-place and a spot into the national play-offs.

Posh ran out 4-1 winners against the Clarets in the reverse fixture earlier in the season after goals from Joe Taylor, David Ajiboye, Joel Randall and Hector Kyprianou. Professional Development Phase Coach, Ryan Semple, is keen to see a reaction from his side following last week’s defeat to The Sky Blues.

“We all want to see a reaction after the last result, we have spoken about it with the players last week and now all focus is on this game. It was a disappointing performance, there’s no getting away from that but we are looking to put that right, starting with tomorrow's game against Burnley.

“It will be a tough game, we played Burnley earlier in the season and got a positive result. They have some good players and play good football but can also be physical, so we will have to be ready for both sides of the game. We know they will provide another good test for us, but are confident we can cause them problems and hopefully at the end of it, get a good performance,” Semple said.
