Ryan Semple

Peterborough United U21s welcome Charlton Athletic to the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday afternoon (2pm) in their final home game of the season in the Professional Development League.

Ryan Semple’s men will look to build on an impressive 3-2 victory over Reading U21s last week after goals from Kai Corbett, Trialist and James Dornelly secured the three points and puts them only three points behind Coventry City in fifth, having played a game less.

The Addicks, who compete in the Southern section of the Professional Development League, are currently sat in sixth and are unbeaten in their last three games, including a 4-2 victory over Birmingham City U21s.

Semple confirmed that the squad will predominantly be an under 21s squad for tomorrow’s clash against The Addicks, with the vast majority of players that were out on loan have now returned and could also feature.

Speaking ahead of the game, Semple said: “We spoke after the Reading game about how it was a really good performance in many areas, a hard-working display and we scored three goals while creating a number of good chances. Although we thought we could have done better with the goals we conceded, it was a positive performance and look to take many aspects of that into the game against Charlton.

“However, they are a good side with plenty of attacking threat. They will look to get at you, stretch the pitch with their wide players and have midfield runners, so they will be a tough test for us, with or without the ball, but we are excited about the challenge. This is the first of our last three games and we are doing everything we can to end the season on a high.”

“The vast majority of our players that were on loan at local clubs are now back, so the group will be a little more settled now. So, what we work on day in, day out on the training ground is now transferred into games, which I thought we did quite well at Reading.”

Tickets can be brought on the day at the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office. Admission is free for season ticket holders with adult tickets available for £3 and concessions (seniors and under 18s) at £1. The Main North Stand will be open for the fixture.

The game will be streamed live on Posh+ and will be free for Posh+ subscribers or £3 for a match pass.
