Posh U18s face The Robins on Saturday afternoon.

Peterborough United U18s welcome Bristol City U18s to the idverde Training Ground on Saturday afternoon (12pm) as they look to continue their excellent run of form in the Under-18 Professional Development League.

The under 18s picked up their 11th consecutive victory in all competitions, eight in the Professional Development League, last Saturday after a 4-0 victory over Burnley. Posh remain third in the table, level on points with Sheffield United having played three more games than The Blades.

U18s manager Jamal Campbell-Ryce, who returns to the sidelines after spending the last two weeks with England U19s coaching staff, praises his side’s application throughout the winning run.

“I probably sound like a broken record at the minute, but we just need to keep doing the basics, outwork our opponent and win the battles. When we are in possession, it’s about what we do and playing our football which we have shown plenty of times over the last couple of months.

“We haven’t just had this excellent run of form just because they have all of a sudden turned into good footballers, this group of players have been brilliant footballers all season but they’re just starting to piece everything together now. That includes the work rate, application, the hunger and they’re now reaping the rewards,” Campbell-Ryce said.

The Robins compete in the southern section of the Under-18 Professional Development League and are currently sitting fifth in the table, but have only won twice in their last five league fixtures.

“Bristol City seem like they are quite direct and prefer to play diagonal balls, getting it out wide and putting crosses in. However, it’s nothing too dissimilar to what we have faced already this season, so we just have to make sure we are prepared for the battle and compete well,” Campbell-Ryce added.

Updates of the game will be provided as much as possible on The Posh Academy Twitter account (@theposhacademy).
