A look back at the Competition

Posh progressed to the knockout stages of this competition after finishing ahead of Huddersfield Town, Bradford City and Crewe Alexandra. Torin Ntege struck late in the quarter-final to secure a 2-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the quarter-final before Janos Bodnar socred in the last-minute to book the under 18s place in the final.

The Blues won their respective group ahead of Reading, AFC Bournemouth and Millwall before overcoming Shrewsbury Town on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the 120 minutes. The Midlands-based side secured their spot in the final after a 2-1 victory over Bristol City.

Head-To-Head

The two sides compete in the Northern Section of the Professional Development and have met on two occasions this season. It was a seven-goal thriller at the idverde Training Ground back in October, with Posh claiming a 4-3 victory over The Blues as Reuben Marshall netted a brace alongside Oliver Rose and James Dornelly also on the scoresheet.

Posh completed the double over The Blues back in March as they won 2-0 at Wast Hills Training Ground as Dennis Kelmendi netted the opener before Marshall rounded off the scoring.

From The Gaffer

“The players have been outstanding this season, I have asked them to give me 100% and they have absolutely done that. So, I have asked them for one more ninety minutes to just give me everything they have got and I know they will. The experience will be invaluable and I hope they go out there and showcase what I have been seeing week in, week out. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to play at the stadium and in front of friends and families, hopefully some first-team supporters as well.”
