Posh U18s face The Railwaymen on Saturday morning.

Peterborough United U18s travel to Alexandra Park on Saturday morning (11am) as they face Crewe Alexandra U18s in the Under-18 Professional Development League Cup group phase.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s side kicked off their Under-18 Professional Development Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Bradford City U18s last month, while The Railwaymen secured a 4-2 win over Huddersfield Town.

Posh U18s enter Saturday’s game after winning their last three games, two in the Professional Development League and progressed into the next stage of the David Joyce Cup, and could secure their spot in the next round of the U18 Professional Development League Cup with a victory over The Railwaymen.

The under 18s have netted 12 goals in their last two games, but Campbell-Ryce wants to see improved performance at the other end of the pitch after conceding two late goals created a nervy ending in their 4-3 win over Birmingham City U18s last weekend.

Campbell-Ryce said: “We have been creating a number of opportunities over the weeks, but just haven't been clinical, so it has been nice to score a few more goals in the last two games. However, we need to tidy more at the back and make it more comfortable to see games out, and that’s through concentration and managing the game. These are part of the player's development, especially when you have that lead, it’s about bravery and being professional.”

“If we go off from last season, we can expect a very good footballing side. When we played them a few weeks back, I thought we had done well against them, they were quite a young side and always wanted to dominate possession, but were a bit passive out of possession. So, if we can play through our shape, we will hurt them, but like last week, I want us to be aggressive."
