Posh U18s set to return to action on Saturday at the idverde Training Ground.

Peterborough United U18s are set to return to action in the Under-18 Professional Development League on Saturday (12pm) as they welcome Crewe Alexandra U18s to the idverde Training Ground.

The under 18s saw their fixture against Birmingham City U18s postponed last weekend due to a frozen pitch, but will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend and close the gap on league leaders Barnsley U18s, currently nine points off The Tykes.

Forward Joel Odei-Larbi is set to miss the clash against The Railwaymen, but Torin Ntege and Joe Toynton will be available despite picking up knocks in the last week. U18s manager Jamal Campbell-Ryce confirmed that the under 18s took part in some in-house games against the under 21s in the last week.

Speaking ahead of the game, Campbell-Ryce said: “Obviously when a game is called off, it’s frustrating and quite difficult to keep the players motivated when you are just consistently training. However, what has been good though is we have been having in-house games against the under 21s, mixed teams, which have been really competitive and have been trying to influence our playing principles, so hopefully we can take those into the game against Crewe on Saturday.”

“We have played Crewe twice already this season, but they’re always a good side, trying to play the right way and very technical. They encourage their players to get on the ball and be progressive through the third, so we have to be mindful of that. We will have to show them all the respect they deserve, but it’s about what we do and putting in a good performance.”

Updates of the game will be provided as much as possible on The Posh Academy Twitter account (@theposhacademy).
