Posh U18s face The Lions in their latest Professional Development League fixture this weekend.

Peterborough United U18s to travel to Millwall FC Training Ground on Saturday (11am) for a U18 Professional Development League fixture against Millwall U18s as Posh continue to search for their first win of the new season.

The under 18s are looking to bounce back, following two narrow defeats to begin their campaign in a highly competitive development division. The hosts have only played one game in the league so far, however, it was a successful affair with Millwall’s U18 side beating Burnley’s U18s by a three-goal margin. Kavali Heywood scored a brace for Millwall in that game, with the forward expected to be Millwall’s most dangerous attacking asset.

For Posh, defeats against Bournemouth and Swansea were a disappointing way to start the season, however, there were positive signs, including the goal-scoring prowess of forward Tyler Winters, who has scored three times in just two games.

Posh U18s had a successful pre-season, and are still very early in their competitive campaign, therefore the team won’t be too concerned about the opening results. Head of Academy Professional Development Phase Coach Jamal Campbell-Ryce spoke on how he feels that his U18 side needs to improve on their recent performances.

He said: “Obviously we’ve lost two in two, but the most disappointing thing from the two games was not seeing the identity that we saw loads of in pre-season. Myself and the rest of the coaching staff have a lot of work to do, but we aren’t panicking. We know that we’ve got good players and good coaches, the players will get it and we’ll be absolutely fine. We need to be better, stronger and braver collectively as a squad, and there will be no better place to do that than at Millwall on Saturday.”
