Posh U18s to face The young Hammers on Saturday afternoon.

Peterborough United U18s continue their pre-season schedule on Saturday afternoon (12m) as they face FA Youth Cup winners West Ham United U18s at Loughborough University.

The under 18s suffered a 5-3 defeat to Kinetic FC in the opening game of their pre-season programme last weekend, with Tyler Winters, Max Beech and Bolu Shofowoke on the scoresheet for Posh.

The Hammers claimed their first FA Youth Cup in 24 years last season after an impressive 5-1 victory over Arsenal U18s at the Emirates Stadium, and Professional Development Phase Coach, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, is looking forward to the challenge against the current FA Youth Cup winners.

Campbell-Ryce said: “We are a few more weeks into pre-season now, so it is about trying to get our principles across into the games and I think everyone is starting to buy into that now. It will be a great test against West Ham, who won FA Youth Cup last season and we will be playing over at Loughborough University which will be a really good surface. We want to challenge all the players, especially on the back of our success last campaign, and we are expecting that this weekend.”

The under 18s then face a short trip to the Abbey Lawn to face Bourne Town on Tuesday evening (7:45pm).
