Posh Under 18s v Watford U18s

Posh U18s beaten by Watford on Saturday morning.

Peterborough United U18s suffered a 6-0 defeat to Watford U18s in the Under-18 Professional Development League on Saturday morning at the idverde Training Ground.

The visitors opened the scoring on two minutes as they broke quickly with John Lawson getting behind the Posh backline before squaring the ball to Amin Nabizada to convert from close-range.

The lead was doubled on five minutes as Kash Odiase put pressure on Ignas Sakalas and Ollie Rosie, with the former attempted clearance ricocheting off the forward and into the back of the net. It became three on eight minutes as Prince Sikiru’s cross was headed home by Amar Sanghrajka.

Posh searched for a way back into the game as an attempted back pass from the visitors fell to the feet of Tyler Winters, but he blasted his effort wide of the target. Josh Marcon had a low-driven effort from distance, but it was comfortable for the goalkeeper.

Due to the high temperatures, a water break was called midway through the first half and saw Posh make an early change, with Noah Freeman replacing Luke Gilbert. However, just after the half an hour mark, Freeman was penalised for a foul inside the box and Nabizada converted from the spot.

Posh made another change at the break as George Holley replaced Andre Changunda, but it was the visitors who carved out the first opportunity after the break as Lawson’s effort struck the outside of the post. The Hornets were awarded another penalty on 51 minutes and Nabizada slotted home from the spot to secure his third of the game.

Two minutes later, it was six for the visitors as a lovely move saw the ball fired home on the half-volley by Sanghrajka. Torin Ntege forced the goalkeeper into a low save on 55 minutes before Winters sent a close-range effort over the bar after good work from Joel Odei-Larbi down the right-hand side.

On 71 minutes, Mills saw his free-kick fall to Holley on the edge of the box, but his first-time effort went well over the bar. Sakalas made a good save at the other end to deny Max Smith from close-range.

Posh XI: Sakalas, Gilbert (Freeman, 30min), Rose, Toynton, Mills, Unwin, Marcon, Kelmendi (Ntege, 54min), Odei-Larbi (Davies, 76min), Winters, Changunda (Holley, 46min)
