Posh are through to the knockout stages of the Jersey Mike's Trophy after a comfortable 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town Under 21s at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The Robbie Savage era at the Football Club began with a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town Under 21s with four goals in nine first half minutes securing progress into the next stage of the competition.
Harry Leonard scored twice and could have secured a first half hat-trick, but a poor offside decision saw the close-range effort ruled out just before the break.
Harry Ashfield scored another fine goal - his second in the competition - with Ethan Williams completing the scoring with a well-struck effort from outside the box.
Posh had numerous chances to increase their lead after the break, but ultimately it was the visitors who scored the only goal in the second 45 minutes, to the frustrations of the boss.
Leonard had two chances to break the deadlock in the first 10 minutes, but the striker then won a spot-kick on 24 minutes after coming alive in the six-yard box. LEONARD dispatched the spot-kick from 12-yards clinically.
On 27 minutes, Posh made it 2-0 as ASHFIELD fired into the top corner with his left-foot after penalty appeals following a foul on Shofowoke went unanswered by the referee.
On 30 minutes, Posh made it 3-0 with LEONARD firing into the bottom corner with his left-foot and four minutes later, it was 4-0 as WILLIAMS rifled home a left-foot shot into the corner.
Leonard's goal on the stroke of half-time from an Edwards cross was ruled out for offside. FLETCHER reduced the arrears on the counter-attack for the Tractor Boys before Posh made a host of substitutions including the return from injury of Declan Frith and Matt Garbett.
Mills free-kick was saved and Ormerod was kept out by the keeper before half chances for Garbett and Frith. Nicolaou hit the inside of the post from a free-kick in stoppage time for the visitors.
