Harrison Burrows celebrates making it 2-0 at Blackpool

Posh book a date at Wembley after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Blackpool in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy semi-finals.

Peterborough United can look forward to a trip to Wembley Stadium later this season after putting in an excellent display at Bloomfield Road in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy semi-final against Blackpool, with a double from skipper Harrison Burrows and a superb finish from Malik Mothersille securing a 3-0 win.

Posh were always in control with goalkeeper Jed Steer not called upon to make a difficult save throughout the 90 minutes, while chances went a-begging at the other end with Joel Randall, Mothersille and others squandering opportunities.

However, all of that amounted to just waffle - the important factor was that Posh had made it to the showpiece final - with Bradford City or Wycombe Wanderers set to be the opposition under the arch.

On nine minutes, Josh Knight saw a shot blocked following a bit of a scramble following a corner kick before Kwame Poku saw a shot blocked after keeper O'Donnell flapped at an Ephron Mason-Clark cross. Jeando Fuchs fired the rebound into the side-netting.

Three minutes later, Posh had a glorious chance to break the deadlock after good work from Mothersille, Randall racing clear, but his shot was kept out by the legs of the keeper. On 34 minutes, Archie Collins tested O'Donnell from range before Posh did get their noses in front as MOTHERSILLE produced a classy finish after good work from Mason-Clark.

Beesley could only head straight at Steer on 48 minutes, while Mason-Clark fired over with his left-foot at the other end.

Just after the hour mark, Randall had a chance to double the lead as he raced onto a through-ball from Mason-Clark, but his dink over the keeper drifted wide.

Mason-Clark saw a shot cleared ny Ekpetita after another lightening Posh break before Posh were awarded a spot-kick as Jones was upended in the box. BURROWS was on the spot and he sent the keeper the wrong way to put Darren Ferguson's men 2-0 up.

As the game moved into six minutes of added time, Posh added a third and it was BURROWS again as his effort took a deflection, kissed the inside of the post and went into the back of the net.
