Jacob Mendy

Posh make their second signing from Wrexham as Jacob Mendy arrives in loan deal.

Peterborough United have made their third signing on deadline day with the arrival of Wrexham left-sided player Jacob Mendy on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has been part of the recent Wrexham success story, helping the Welsh side to promotion from the National League and from League Two to League One. He was also part of the squad that secured promotion to the Championship last season.

He featured in the African Cup of Nations for Gambia in early 2024 and arrives in PE2 after featuring for the Championship side in the Carabao Cup win at Preston North End.

Manager Darren Ferguson said: "Jacob can play left-back or left-wing back and it is an area of the pitch that I felt we needed to strengthen.

"Rio has been out a long time and it is going to take him a while to get up to speed and when we found out he was available, it was something we wanted to explore because he has played in the league, he has promotions on his CV, he is a winner and a really nice lad to boot.

"He is obviously following Thomas from Wrexham and they played alongside each other a number of times. He brings physicality and athleticism on that side of the pitch and that is good to have."

We will be speaking to Jacob later today and you will be able to watch that interview on Posh+.
