Harry Ashfield

Posh have secured the deadline day signing of Wrexham midfielder Harry Ashfield for an undisclosed fee.

Peterborough United have secured the signing of 20-year-old Harry Ashfield from Sky Bet Championship side Wrexham for an undisclosed fee, with the midfielder penning a three-year deal (with a year's option) at the club.

Ashfield, who made 17 appearances for Cheltenham Town in a successful loan spell earlier this year, completed the paperwork ahead of the transfer deadline and will provide another option for Luke Williams in midfield.

He was called into the Wales Under 21 squad for the first time earlier this year and completed a medical at the Weston Homes Stadium during the 0-0 draw with Stevenage.

The 20-year-old has made nine appearances for Wrexham and has been linked with a number of clubs, but has committed his long-term future to Posh and is excited to get started.

"It has been a crazy 24 hours and I am delighted it is over the line. The way that the club is run and how they view young players, I am absolutely delighted to be here.

"This club gives young players opportunity, I can't wait to get started and to show the fans what I am about. I spoke to a few of the players that have played here before like Jack Marriott about the club and they were really positive so now it is about looking forward to getting on the training pitch with the lads," Ashfield said.
