Action between Posh and Stevenage

Posh and Stevenage played out a goalless draw at the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action.

Peterborough United were held to a goalless draw by Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday night as Luke Williams' side bounced back from the weekend defeat at Blackpool by collecting their second clean sheet in all competitions of the campaign.

It was a game that lacked fluency, but there were still big chances for Posh with Harry Leonard uncharacteristically firing wide when well placed in the first half and firing over in the second half after good build-up play.

Goalkeeper Alex Bass made a couple of decent saves to keep out Dan Kemp, but a back four, marshalled by new signing Josh Feeney, were rarely troubled against a side who have a physical threat and did the double over Posh last term.

Bass was first called upon on five minutes to keep out a stinging drive from Kemp before Posh carved out the best opportunity of the night as Owura Edwards did brilliantly down the right to pull the ball back to the number nine, but he couldn't keep his effort on target.

Harrison Jones headed wide on 17 minutes before Posh were forced into a change as Edwards was forced off with Bolu Shofowoke his replacement.

Shofowoke made an immediate impact, his driving run into the box left Freestone in his wake, but the youngster fired over with his right-foot.

Williams curled wide on 37 minutes before Bass produced a fine low stop to keep out Patterson from an acute angle.

Williams had a chance to score five minutes into the second half, but couldn't keep his shot down after good work from Shofowoke, before Piergianni headed wide at the other end.

Bass did well to keep out Kemp on 67 minutes before Leonard had another opportunity to score but he blazed over after good work from Chris Conn-Clarke.
