Malik Mothersille scored and missed from the spot as Posh ended their home league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers.
Peterborough United recorded their third 1-1 draw in a row as a penalty from Malik Mothersille was cancelled out by a close-range strike from Chris Forino in the final Sky Bet League One fixture at the Weston Homes Stadium of the season.
Posh played well in the first half and created a flurry of chances with Gustav Lindgren firing over after Malik Mothersille's header was parried by Southwood.
MOTHERSILLE won and then converted from the spot to give Posh the lead but FORINO levelled as Posh struggled to clear a corner kick.
Goalkeeper Will Blackmore, who made two good saves in the opening exchanges to deny John McAtee and Joel Randall, also did well to smother at the feet of Schlon.
Posh brought on Kwame Poku, Hector Kyprianou and Ricky-Jade Jones from the bench and Poku produced sublime skill on the by-line to create a chance for Mothersille but he blazed over.
Mothersille won a second spot-kick after good work in a tight area in the box, but after a delay, saw his spot-kick repelled by Southwood.
Both sides pushed for a winner with half-chances at either end, Matete fired wide with a free-kick before substitute Aaron Collins struck the post.
Posh conclude their campaign with away games at Mansfield Town on Wednesday evening before a trip to Rotherham United on the final day.
