Harry Leonard celebrates scoring with his team-mates

Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Harry Leonard were on target as Posh withstood a late barrage from the home side to secure back-to-back victories in Sky Bet League One.

Wins in football can come in many different ways. On Saturday, it was about a ruthless attacking display as Wigan Athletic were put to the sword, a few days later, it was high fives for the back-line and goalkeeper Alex Bass as Peterborough United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Mansfield Town.

The Stags played the better football in the first half and carved out the best opportunity in front of goal, but Luke Williams' side got into the break level and after the break displayed more clinical finishing in front of goal with Morgan and Leonard finishing superbly.

Of course, no 2-0 lead is a comfortable one and when Mansfield pulled a goal back, it set up a grandstand finish and boy did the home side throw everything at Posh, but Bass was impenetrable after that strike with some fine saves coupled with some heroic defending.

It was Luke Bolton who had the best chance for Mansfield in the first half, but he couldn't force the ball past Bass from close-range. At the other end, Morgan danced his way to the edge of the box, but his shot from 20-yards rolled past the post.

Frazer Blake-Tracy was denied expertly by Bass at his near post after a quick counter-attack but other than that, chances were at a premium in the first 45 minutes.

It was MORGAN who broke the deadlock in fine style as Posh countered at pace, with Cian Hayes picking out the onrushing on-loan Chelsea man and he finished superbly into the back of the net.

LEONARD doubled the lead as Posh pressed from the front and Brandon Khela calmly found the striker who made no mistake, rolling the ball past Roberts in the Town goal.

Moriah-Welsh flashed a shot wide of the target and Louis Reed saw an effort deflect wide as the Stags began to surge forward but there were gaps at the other end with Khela shooting straight at Roberts on a foray forward.

Bass produced a fine stop to deny Bolton on 77 minutes before ABBOTT fired into the corner after Okagbue's initial block. Bass produced a fine stop deep into stoppage time as Posh threw bodies in front of blocks bravely to secure the three points.
