Girls Academy

A monthly round-up of the Posh Girl’s Academy as they tasted cup experience.

Having returned to training last month, October saw the Girl’s Academy participate in a tournament at Norwich whilst various players attended the city’s university for a training experience. Posh continued to be represented at England Regional Talent Events whilst staff attended workshops to continue their professional development.

Results

During the October Half Term, a number of age groups travelled to Norwich for the Canary Cup Competition hosted by Norwich City ETC. A number of ETC teams participated including Brighton & Hove Albion, Birmingham City and Cambridge United.

The U10s reached the quarter-final stages having been defeated by Brighton. Our U12s and U16s unfortunately could not make it out of the group stages.

The U14s team reached the final against Devon FA, but cruelly lost out on penalties following a spirited performance.

England Regional Talent Events

Katie Bonarius, Imogen Hollwey and Evie Agyekum attended a Regional Future Lioness Top Talent Sessions at Loughborough, where they trained with other talented players across the region.

October Half Term

During Half Term, University Centre Peterborough hosted some of our U14 to U23 players. The players had the opportunity to participate in a variety of fitness tests, gym sessions and pitch sessions with the UCP staff.

Thank you to University Centre Peterborough for being so welcoming. We look forward to going back in the future and building on the partnership.

Staff CPD Training

Girls Academy Staff have had the opportunity to access two workshops based on the physical development of female footballers and how to work best on a matchday.

From Girls Academy Manager, Chloe Brown:

“Investing time into staff development is something that is really important to us. It will allow our staff to become better and, in turn, provide a better-quality experience for our players. We are lucky to have an enthusiastic group of staff who are keen to keep on learning.”
