Girls ETC

A monthly round-up of the Posh Girls Academy as they return to training in September.

We welcomed back the Girls Academy at an evening at the Weston Homes Stadium at the beginning of September, with all age groups now returning to training, including our new under 8s.

The start of the month also saw the opportunity for our Girls Academy players to be ball girls and mascots at the Posh Women’s home game against Sutton Coldfield Town.

Results

Our under 10s have played twice this month against Sawtry Reds and March Athletic, with Sophie Spencer and Mags Buffery awarded Player of the Match.

The Posh Girls U11s competed against Kettering FC, with player of the match given to Hebe Kingham.  The U12s played against Mawsley Tigers, where Lucie Baybrook was awarded Player of the Match.

The U14s and U16s both played against Norfolk Schools FA, with Harper Graham and Elle Ford picking up Player of the Match awards.

England Regional Talent Events

On Friday 15th September, two of our Girls Academy goalkeepers (U14s Katie Bonarius and U16s Imogen Hollwey) attended the Women’s High Performance Centre Future Lioness Goalkeeper Centres.

First Partner Club

Kings Lynn Soccer Club were announced as our first academy partner club earlier in the month. They have already begun providing opportunities for some of our Girls Academy players to train and play with them.

Staff CPD Training

Our Girls Academy staff participated in training to continue their coaching development as they observed an under 23s training session and discussed what they could introduce at the different age groups of the Girls Academy.

From ETC Manager, Chloe Brown

“It is nice to have all the age groups back in now and to get the season underway. The under 23s have put in some promising performances considering this is their first season in this league and the average age of the team is 17. I know that there is more to come from them. We have already had two players this season start their journey through the Future Lionness Programme and showing great potential as two of the best goalkeepers in the region.”
