yoga united

Peterborough United Foundation are excited to be offering free weekly yoga sessions.

Versus Arthritis on behalf of Sport England has awarded Peterborough United Foundation funds from the Together Fund to support our organisation to help reduce the long-term impact and aid recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the widening of the inequalities in sport and physical activity within Peterborough and the surrounding areas.

Versus Arthritis is working as a National Partner of Sport England to deliver this funding to local, community-based organisations. This funding will help ensure the project is accessible to all and will be free to attend.

Yoga United will consist of weekly Yoga sessions, aimed at those that are suffering with long term health conditions, particularly those living with Arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions.

The sessions are open to anyone aged 18+ and people who may be isolated through COVID-19. Our Yoga sessions will increase participants activities levels in a safe and welcoming environment, with the aim to support the participants physical health conditions and their wellbeing.

In addition, our aim is to bring those that are isolated together through these sessions with break out periods for those to socialise and form bonds to reconnect with their community.

We have partnered with an experienced, EPS registered Level 4 Yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga &10 years’ experience.  Yoga is one of the many activities recommended to help support those with Musculoskeletal conditions and ageing adults to help strengthen muscles and flexibility.

In addition, early research has suggested that a regular yoga practice appears to correlate with increased wellbeing, including better sleep, better body awareness, weight loss, and greater happiness.

The sessions are for over 18s and are on Monday 3rd October from 11.15am until 12.15pm at the Weston Homes Stadium. To register for the free session, please email jenna.lusk@theposh.com
