Posh suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Reading in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Peterborough United suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of fellow Sky Bet League One side Reading to bow out of the Emirates FA Cup at the first round stage.
Former Posh striker Jack Marriott was among the scorers for the visitors, while Charlie Savage also got on the score-sheet as the Royals took advantage of a lacklustre performance from Posh.
After a quiet opening to the contest, played against the backdrop of a noisy firework display on the Embankment, the first half turned on a sixty seconds - Liam Fraser producing a fine clearance to prevent Lucca Mendonca from turning home a Tom O'Connor header across goal at one end before the visitors opened the scoring through a deflected KYEREWAA effort, which found the bottom corner.
On 33 minutes, the Royals doubled their lead as MARRIOTT headed home from close-range following a left-wing centre. Harry Ashfield fired over before Reading extended their advantage as SAVAGE found the back of the net with his left-foot.
Savage saw a long-range effort tipped over by Alex Bass before they extended their advantage as substitute Jamie REID clinically found the back of the net.
It was 5-0 on 75 minutes, REID again with the goal, this time flicking the ball over Bass after being left all alone in the penalty area.
