Jimmy-Jay Morgan netted his first Posh goal and Cian Hayes grabbed a late consolation, but Posh were beaten 3-2 at Huddersfield Town.
Just two players remained in the Peterborough United starting XI from the game between the two sides at the Accu Stadium and the new-look side showed plenty of promise against one of the division's promotion favourites, but were ultimately beaten 3-2 by Huddersfield Town.
Posh had the better of the first half without a shadow of a doubt, but were lacking that killer instinct with goalkeeper Lee Nicholls rather untroubled.
After making a positive start to the second half and opening the scoring, Darren Ferguson's men were pegged back too quickly for his liking and a deflected strike from Herbie Kane turned the game on its head.
With new players struggling to maintain their levels physically, understandably given some were playing their first minutes of the season, the Terriers added a third in stoppage time before a late consolation from substitute Cian Hayes.
Marcus Harness had the first effort on target on 32 minutes, but goalkeeper Alex Bass made a routine stop.
At the start of the second half, Posh won a free-kick on the edge of the box and Harry Leonard's strike was deflected into the back of the net by Jimmy-Jay MORGAN.
The lead didn't last too long though, ALVES sliding in from close-range to finish well after good work from Lasse Sorensen down the right.
A deflected effort from range by KANE put the home side in front, the effort taking a nick off the knee of Tom Lees and diverting the ball past Bass and into the corner.
Lees saw a header saved by Nicholls from a free-kick while substitute Kyrell Lisbie saw a shot blocked as Posh pushed for a leveller but as eight minutes was indicated of stoppage time, TAYLOR raced clear to beat Bass to make it 3-1.
Posh continued to the end and found another goal as a cross from the right was met at the back post by HAYES who fired into the corner, but there was no time to create any more nervousness.
