Cardiff City come from behind to condemn Posh to a 2-1 defeat on the opening day of the Sky Bet League One campaign.
Peterborough United were beaten 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium on the opening day of the 2025/26 season as the Bluebirds came from behind to pocket all three points following second half goals from Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio.
The hosts had the lions share of the possession in the first half, but aside from a header by Salech, which was expertly tipped over by Nick Bilokapic, the Posh defence stood firm.
Colwill scuffed a shot wide of the upright and saw a header deflect wide of the target, but Posh carried a threat on the break and opened the scoring from the spot as Declan Frith was bundled over in the box allowing Bradley IHIONVIEN to net from 12-yards for his first goal of the season.
Ihionvien was denied a second by a fine stop from Matt Turner as Posh ended the first half strongly, however at the start of the second half, naivety in possession cost them dear.
Posh had chances to clear before Oscar Wallin bundled over his opponent and Ruben COLWILL stepped up to smash a superb free-kick into the corner.
It was 2-1 to the Bluebirds as KPAKIO rifled a shot over Bilokapic and into the back of the net and Bilokapic did well to keep the score at two during a rampant period, clawing a shot away from danger from Ollie Tanner.
At the other end, five Posh substitutes livened things up and one of those, Gustav Lindgren, was superbly kept out by Turner after an instinctive strike.
The ball didn't fall to Ryan De Havilland or Kyrell Lisbie in the box in eight minutes of stoppage time, with a bobbly effort from Cian Hayes the last effort before the referee brought an end to proceedings.
