Action between Posh and West Brom

Posh suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in the final pre-season friendly ahead of the new campaign.

Peterborough United were beaten 2-0 by Sky Bet Championship side West Bromwich Albion at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon with two goals in the second half securing victory for the Baggies.

After a hugely competitive first half without any real clearcut opportunities at either end, the visitors scored inside the opening two minutes of the second half and added a second goal midway through the half.

Alex Bass, wearing the captains armband, did well to keep out an effort from Jimmy-Jay Morgan, who spent last season on-loan at Posh from Premier League side Chelsea.

The opening goal came on 47 minutes as HEGGEBO fired home from close-range after a sloppy start to the second period from Luke Williams' side.

There were a number of moments for Posh at the other end with Harry Leonard seeing an effort deflect wide of the target, before the visitors added a second goal through substitute Barney STEWART.

Posh travel to Sky Bet League Two side Bristol Rovers in the first round of the Carabao Cup next Saturday before a trip to Bradford City on the opening day of the league campaign.
