Posh beaten 5-2 by Matt Bloomfield’s Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.
Peterborough United suffered a third straight Sky Bet League One defeat as Wycombe Wanderers ran out 5-2 winners at Adams Park following an eventful fixture, which saw Darren Ferguson’s men get back to within one goal only to concede further goals deep into the second half.
Posh struggled to carve out opportunities in front of goal during the first half with only a Joel Randall effort, which cleared the crossbar on seven minutes, causing any alarm in a stop-start 45 minutes. Nick Bilokapic made a good stop to keep out a curling effort from Kieran Sadlier on 28 minutes before the hosts opened the scoring as Archie Collins diverted the ball into the back of the net from a Sadlier cross.
Bilokapic kept out Kone from close-range in nine minutes of added time, before the hosts doubled their advantage through their skimmer Jack GRIMMER. Wycombe added a third goal on 57 minutes as SADLIER produced a fine effort after a mistake.
Posh did pull a goal back on 65 minutes and it was a fine individual effort from winger David AJIBOYE, who twisted and turned before firing into the roof of the net. Moments later, Posh had another as Malik Mothersille found Burrows and his cross was diverted past his own keeper by Ryan Tafazolli.
Bilokapic kept out a fierce effort from Sadlier on 72 minutes, but he was caught out from a corner kick by McLeary two minutes later which eventually found the back of the net at the near post after substitute Vokes headed it back across.
Burrows saw two efforts blocked before Posh introduced Pemi Aderoju for his debut with the former Biggleswade man coming close instantly as his header was deflected wide. Within eight minutes of added time, substitute WHEELER took advantage of a poor pass and rifled the ball into the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.
