Connell Rawlinson

Manager Luke Williams has added Connell Rawlinson to his backroom staff ahead of the new campaign.

Peterborough United can confirm that former Notts County defender and ex-Chester City interim manager Connell Rawlinson has been appointed to the coaching staff, primarily to work on set-pieces.

Rawlinson, who spent five seasons as a player with the Magpies when Williams was in charge at Meadow Lane, has joined with immediate effect with Williams looking forward to working with him.

"Connell will be one of our coaching team and the approach will be a collaborative one when it comes to set-pieces. Richard (Taylor, Goalkeeping Coach), made significant improvements towards the back end of last season and we will continue to find the improvements together as a group.

"I know Connell personally. He did an outstanding job as interim manager of Chester City and very nearly got them promoted from a position outside of the play-offs. He got a lot of results in a short space of time. He has showed his ability to coach and manage and he was an outstanding player for me, a real leader at Notts County and I am excited having him on board.

"As a towering centre back, set-pieces were part of the game that he really enjoyed, his attitude to set-pieces were really positive and he was very much a threat from them," Williams said.

There will be an interview with Connell on Posh+ next week.
