Port Vale v Posh

A look ahead to Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League One meeting against Port Vale at Vale Park (7.45pm).

Peterborough United make the trip to Vale Park on Tuesday evening to face Port Vale in Sky Bet League One action (7.45pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to extend a good run of form, which sees the club inside the top six in the division.

Posh picked up a point from the home clash with Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday thanks to goals from Joel Randall and Ephron Mason-Clark, while Port Vale also added a point to their tally after a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Stevenage.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Will Blackmore and midfielder Jeando Fuchs due to injury, while Malik Mothersille got 60 minutes under his belt in the under 21s draw at Crewe Alexandra on Monday. The former Chelsea man netted his first Posh goal in the game and is expected to be challenging for a spot in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Blackpool.

Jadel Katongo and Kwame Poku have both trained and are available to start after slight injuries. The hosts are unable to call upon Conor Grant and James Wilson, who are both expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks with calf injuries.

Defender Alex Lacovitti is also sidelined with a calf problem and remains a doubt for Tuesday's encounter after missing the last four matches. Ryan Loft and Uche Ikpeazu both made their Port Vale debuts at the weekend, and the latter could be presented with his first start for the club on Tuesday.

ONE TO WATCH

Midfielder Alfie Devine (pictured below) joined Vale on-loan from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and has made a lively start to life in the Potteries. An excellent technician, he makes Vale tick with his ability to break the lines and bring others into play. He is a threat in and around the box and will need to be carefully marshalled by the Posh defence.

FROM THE MANAGER

“It is a big pitch and that should suit us in the way that we want to play. Port Vale are an aggressive side, they might not have won in the last few games, but I have watched a lot of their matches and they have been in them and in the first half against Portsmouth, they dominated. They have recruited well and it will be a tough game, I have no doubt about that,” Darren Ferguson said.

Just over 350 tickets have been sold to Posh fans ahead of the fixture with tickets going off sale at midday on Tuesday from the Weston Homes Box Office and online at www.theposhtickets.com.
