The Posh Women manager Jake Poole took positives from his side's performance against tough opposition in their latest pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

After a resounding 5-0 win over FAWNL Division One Midlands side Sutton Coldfield Town last week, it was a tougher test for Posh on Tuesday evening as they travelled to face Southern Premier Division side Oxford United.

The U's, who are an established Tier 3 side who operate with a hybrid training model, allowing a number of players to train on a regular daily basis, were 1-0 ahead at the interval from a set-piece and added further goals in the second half to claim a 3-0 win.

Poole, who again utilised the fixture to give minutes to the majority of his squad while continuing to run the rule over potential signings, said: "This was a fixture that we put into our schedule as it was an opportunity to stretch the players and to understand where the group is.

"There were positives to take from the evening's work and some areas that we need to improve on to be competitive at this level. We would like to thank Oxford for the game and wish them the best of luck for the forthcoming campaign."

Posh have further games to come in their schedule including the trip to Queens Park Rangers, which will also be played behind closed doors as it will now take place at their Hoops' training base.
