It is a busy start to the campaign for the Posh Women with a trip to Norfolk to face Norwich City in the National League Cup on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

For manager Jake Poole it is an opportunity for his side to test themselves against opposition they would normally face in their league programme.

It is a challenge that Poole is looking forward too: "I believe the new format for the League Cup is a positive change and it is something to look forward too, but obviously playing a game a couple of days after the opening day of the season is always going to be a challenge.

"Players have full-time jobs and we have to travel across to Norwich, but that is the schedule and we have to embrace it.

"Norwich have stepped up in terms of what their club looks like and what their offering is this season. I know Andy (Cook) well, he is a great manager and been in the National League for a number of years now.

"They will pose a tough challenge. We have got a good squad and a big squad in comparative terms to other clubs at our level so it will be a good opportunity to use that squad, but it will be no charity, the players that are picked will deserve to be picked.

"It is finding a balance, we want to be competitive in the League Cup, it is a group of good, local clubs and we want to be successful within it, but there is no doubt we have to ensure that we are careful with the league games coming thick and fast," Poole said.
