Portsmouth v Posh

Portsmouth overcame Posh 3-1 at Fratton Park as Darren Ferguson’s men suffered defeat in Sky Bet League One action.

Peterborough United were beaten 3-1 by a strong Portsmouth side at Fratton Park as Ricky-Jade Jones’ goal was cancelled out by Colby Bishop, Abu Kamara and Regan Poole strikes at Fratton Park in Sky Bet League One action.

Ricky-Jade Jones tested goalkeeper Will Norris inside the opening four minutes after a really strong run into penalty area as Posh made a lively start in the sunshine at Fratton Park. Regan Poole was cautioned for a late foul on Jones on the quarter hour mark as the Academy graduate raced down the left-hand side.

The deadlock was broken on 19 minutes and it was a fine Posh goal, Poku worked the ball to JONES, he took a couple of touches and curled a fine effort past Norris who didn’t move. Moments later, Posh had another half-chance at the back post from a deep Poku cross, but Jones couldn’t direct his volley on target from an acute angle.

Poku was a whisker away from a fine goal on 29 minutes as he caught a volley sweetly after Randall kept a move alive. Skipper Ephron Mason-Clark was then cautioned for a foul right in front of the dugout. Colby Bishop headed wide under pressure from Edwards on 35 minutes after an immediate Swanson delivery.

The home side drew themselves level on 38 minutes as a Swanson cross was headed home from close-range by BISHOP. Kyprianou headed straight at Norris from a wonderful Burrows delivery five minutes before the interval.

Two minutes before the break, Pompey got themselves in front as a low shot corner was miss-kicked by Crichlow and KAMARA was there to take advantage and slot into the bottom corner. Mason-Clark fired over on 50 minutes after Jones kept a Poku cross alive as Posh tried to get back into the game.

Kyprianou headed against his own crossbar moments later before Bilokapic produced a stunning save to claw away a Saydee curler. Shaughnessy then headed wide as Posh struggled to contain the home side. On the hour mark, the hosts did get a third goal as Regan POOLE tapped home from close-range after a rifled cross from Morrell.

Swanson was cautioned by David Rock for another rash challenge on Jones on 64 minutes. Sturge was cautioned for a foul as the game moved into the last 10 minutes. On 85 minutes, Portsmouth were reduced to 10-men as Morrel was shown a second yellow card for a foul.

Kyprianou was cautioned for a foul on 88 minutes.  Sturge was denied by Norris after a fierce drive as the game moved into nine minutes of added time. Poku diverted a low Ajiboye cross wide at the far post on the full stretch.

Sturge somehow fired over the top after good work from Kioso and Ajiboye as Posh pushed for a consolation.
