Kwame Poku

Kwame Poku scooped three gongs at the club's End of Season Dinner on Tuesday night.

Poku was named the Junior Posh Player of the Season, the Players' Player of the Season and the foreverposh Player of the Season at the club's event, which was held at the Holiday Inn on Tuesday evening.

The former Colchester United man won back to back EFL League One Player of the Month Awards prior to a hamstring injury that saw him miss 17 league games and on his return to the starting line-up, he picked up where he left off with goals and assists.

Poku was delighted to take home three trophies and with an expected departure in the summer, it was a great way to bow out.

"We have three games left and for me personally, I want to try and end with positive results and performances, but to win three awards on Tuesday night was a special moment for me.

"I missed so many games, so to be recognised by the supporters and my team-mates means a lot and I know there are a lot of good players that have won these awards in the past.

"No player enjoys being injured, but during that period, I felt that I grew mentally and I worked hard physically to ensure when I came back I could impact games and I feel that I have managed to do that in some of the games we have played.

"The manager has been great for me throughout my time at the club, he sees football like I see football. When I cross that white line, I feel I can be me, express myself and try and help the team. I have been fortunate that throughout that time, I have been in the team, I have had the faith in me and that is really important.

"When you win individual awards, it is about everyone who has helped you, from the coaches to my team-mates, so I am thankful for their help and support," Poku said.
