Posh v Wycombe Wanderers

Posh drew 2-2 with Wycombe Wanderers in Sky Bet League One action at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United’s unbeaten run in the league continued as they drew 2-2 with Wycombe Wanderers in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon with Joel Randall and Ephron Mason-Clark on target in the first half.

David Ajiboye was not too far away from converting an inviting Harrison Burrows centre on 10 minutes after a quiet opening to the game in PE2. A short corner routine involving Burrows and Joel Randall caused panic on 14 minutes with the latter seeing his cross somehow sliced wide of the target at the back post by a defender.

Nicholas Bilokapic did well to smother at the feet of Brandon Hanlon on 20 minutes after a piercing Scowen pass through the centre of the Posh defence. On 34 minutes, the visitors opened the scoring as a Luke Leahy free-kick was only half cleared and Brandon HANLON found the bottom corner from around eight-yards.

Clarke-Harris saw a back post header pushed away from danger by Stryjek before Mason-Clark’s low delivery was diverted into the side-netting by Low. Posh got themselves level on 40 minutes and in the week where Neil Le Bihan, who once scored direct from a corner kick, sadly passed away, it was another goal direct from the set-piece as Joel RANDALL’S left-wing delivery from the dead ball found its way into the far corner.

Three minutes of added time was indicated by the fourth official and moments later, Posh were in front as David Ajiboye picked out Ephron MASON-CLARK, he took a touch, cut inside and fired an unstoppable shot past Stryjek.

Within 20 seconds of the re-start, Wycombe were close to a leveller as an Edwards tackle invertedly  fell for Phillips who saw his rasping effort tipped over by Bilokapic. Boyes then saw a low effort from range comfortable claimed by the Posh keeper.

Knight did well to clear from almost his own goal-line on 50 minutes after Taylor poked a ball towards the net after indecision at the back. Clarke-Harris did superbly well to block from Hanlon following a clipped Leahy free-kick on 54 minutes.

On the hour mark, the visitors drew themselves level as a Leahy free-kick was headed past his own keeper by Mason-Clark. Randall fired over the bar on 71 minutes after good hold-up play from Clarke-Harris.

Kioso saw a volley well held by the Wycombe keeper on 76 minutes before Phillisp saw a shot deflefted wide at the other end. Kwame Poku replaced Randall with 10 to play as Darren Ferguson shuffled his pack once more.

Knight was cautioned before Darren Ferguson went into the book, presumably for protesting as Posh appeals for a spot-kick following a challenge on Kioso in the box went unpunished. Poku saw a shot in stoppage time gathered by Stryjek.
