Academy youngsters attend workshop put on by the Paul Canoville Foundation at the idverde Training Ground.
The Paul Canoville Foundation recently brought a powerful educational session to the scholars of Peterborough United Academy, focusing on the crucial themes of Allyship, Mental Health, and Player Care. Delivered to players aged 15 to 18, the session was an inspiring blend of lived experience and actionable guidance.
Led by Foundation CEO Raphael Frascogna and Foundation Founder Paul Canoville — the first black player to represent Chelsea — the session provided young athletes with insights not only into the world of professional football, but into the personal challenges and societal pressures that often accompany it.
Organised by Peterborough United’s Head Club Safeguarding Officer Rachel Green and Head of Education Ben Seymour-Shove, the initiative underscores the club’s commitment to holistic player development.
Through heartfelt stories and open dialogue, the Foundation leaders encouraged the young scholars to reflect on their roles within their teams and communities, highlighting how allyship and mental wellness are fundamental to both personal growth and team success.
Raphael Frascogna emphasised the Foundation’s mission: “We aim to ensure young players understand the power of their voices and the importance of supporting one another — not just as teammates, but as individuals navigating life’s complexities."
Seymour-Shove said: "It was an excellent workshop that was both educational and inspiring for our youngsters and brings added value to our personal development programme."
