The Posh Women start their FAWNL Division One Midlands campaign on Sunday with a trip to Notts County Women (2pm).
The Peterborough United Women go into the clash at Coronation Park, the home of Eastwood CFC on the back of a 4-2 success over Birmingham City Under 21s at PIMS Park last weekend and buoyed by a positive pre-season campaign, which saw Jake Poole's team test themselves against a varied clutch of sides including those at a higher level in the pyramid.
The summer has seen Poole and General Manager Sam Winch add to the squad from last season with striker Jess Rousseau, midfielder Courtney Clarke and defender Anna Pitt among the new arrivals and all three are expected to play a part on Sunday.
TEAM NEWS
Goalkeeper Neive Corry returned from injury to make a string of fine saves in the win over Birmingham City last time out, which was good timing with Sophie Harris, who deputised in Corry's absence, picking up an injury that will keep her out of action.
Poole has a number of other players who could miss out on opening day, but with seven potential substitutes to be named, he has a strong squad to choose from.
MANAGER QUOTES
"It has been a good pre-season for the squad., we managed to bring in the players that we wanted to do early, which has meant they have settled into the group quickly, which was important. We are looking forward to the opening day, there is always a lot of excitement around, but we know that we have to be at it from the first whistle because every team in this division, including Notts County, can cause you problems, as they have in the past," Poole said.
