Peterborough United Women begin their National League Cup campaign on Tuesday (7.45pm) as Jake Poole’s side head away to Norwich City in the group phase.
Peterborough United Women have the chance to make it six unbeaten on Tuesday, having carried over their pre-season form into the competitive season with a 4-1 win at Notts County.
Niamh Reynolds had a knack for finding the net in Nottingham, scoring on three occasions to earn her side the three points on the opening day of the season, following up on Niamh Connor’s leveller.
The Canaries – who compete at the same level, but in the South East - matched our success, also putting four past their opponents in a 4-0 win over Actonians Football Club.
TEAM NEWS
Poole may make changes to his starting line-up to give others an opportunity with three games inside the opening seven days of the season. Hayley James and Tara Kirk, who both missed the opening day win at Notts County, are unavailable due to injury.
MANAGER QUOTES
"It is a tough group for us, but the opposition are different to what we would usually encounter in our league programme, so there is a good chance to learn and test ourselves against those opponents. Norwich City will be strong opponents and it is not ideal having to travel that far on a Tuesday evening with players in full-time employment, but we will go there in a positive frame of mind and try and get the points," Jake Poole said.
