Lucca Mendonca scored a brace as the Under 21s rescued a point with a late leveller against Watford at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The Peterborough United Under 21s scored a late equaliser to earn a point against Watford in Professional Development League action at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Substitute Eddie Fox was on hand to fire home from close-range after Pemi Aderoju's effort was parried as Posh came from 3-2 down to earn a 3-3 draw following an entertaining encounter, which featured multiple bookings and two penalties, one converted and one saved.
Ben Woods and Jacob Mendy both got 45 minutes under their belt, the former making his first appearance since a muscle injury.
It was nearly a nightmare start for Posh as goalkeeper Bastian Smith was dispossessed in the area, but Lawson couldn't force the ball over the line. The deadlock was broken on 17 minutes as NABIZADA found the back of the net.
Smith produced a fine stop to keep out Shevchenko (yes, the son of the former Ukraine superstar Andriy) on 21 minutes before Andre Changunda fired wide after good work down the left from Bolu Shofowoke.
Smith denied Lawson on the stroke of half-time and four minutes into the second half, Posh drew level as MENDONCA floated a header into the corner from a right-wing cross.
Ejiro Abbey clipped the top of the crossbar with a deflected effort before Aderoju saw an effort blocked after a free-kick was given in the area for a perceived back-pass.
On 66 minutes, Watford nudged back in front as SANGHRAJKA coolly found the corner but the lead didn't last long as MENDONCA tapped home from close-range after superb work from substitute Abraham Odoh.
However, two minutes later, Watford were awarded a penalty as Smith was adjudged to have committed a foul, but the goalkeeper did brilliantly to keep out the resulting spot-kick.
Smith produced another fine stop to deny Shevchenko as he raced clear before Watford did get themselves back in front as Davies was penalised for a foul in the box and NABIZADA sent Smith the wrong way from 12-yards.
Shofowoke fired over when well placed before Smith was back in action to push Lawson's shot around the post. Noah Freeman headed straight at the keeper before Aderoju was kept out as Posh pressed for an equaliser.
They got that equaliser in stoppage time as FOX was sharpest in the box to tap home from inside the six-yard box after the keeper could only parry Aderoju's stinging drive.
