Benjamin McWilliams-Marcano

Benjamin Marcano-McWilliams was on the scoresheet as the Posh Under 21s recorded an impressive 2-1 victory in the capital on Tuesday.

The Peterborough United Under 21s picked up another impressive three points on the road to move within four points of league leaders Sheffield United as goals from Benjamin Marcano-McWilliams and the prolific Bolu Shofowoke secured a 2-1 victory at Millwall.

Marcano-McWilliams is in excellent form across the Under 18s and Under 21s since the turn of the year and opened the scoring with a close-range tap in before the Lions squared the game from the penalty spot.

Shofowoke took his goal tally to 29 across the Under 18s and Under 21s with the winner and when you take into consideration he has also contributed 11 assists too, it has been a remarkable campaign for the teenager.

Lead Under 21s Coach Sam Gaughran said: "It was a very pleasing win for us. Every single player was excellent and when you consider the age of our XI and the age of the Millwall XI, it has to be one of the top wins and performances of the season (alongside the wins at Sheffield United and AFC Bournemouth).

"Benji is in a good place at the minute, he was outstanding in the first half particularly, he was direct and caused them all kinds of problems. His goal might have been a tap in but he anticipated what was going to happen and got his rewards. He has been working really hard and you can see him getting the outcomes now. Bolu got his goal and that takes him to 29, which is a brilliant return for him."

Gaughran was then at the Weston Homes Stadium to watch David Kamara score twice as the Posh side, including Patryk Sykut, Pemi Aderoju and Lucca Mendonca, secured a 5-0 win over Rotherham United.

"I am delighted for David. He is a great human being first and foremost but as a player, you can see the strengths he has and I was delighted that they allowed him to take the penalties. It was brilliant to see him score them and celebrate, he thoroughly deserves it," Gaughran added.
