Posh host Luton Town at the Weston Homes Stadium on Wednesday evening (7.45pm) with another XI visiting King’s Lynn.

Peterborough United entertain Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town at the Weston Homes Stadium on Wednesday evening (7.45pm) as preparations continue for the start of the new Sky Bet League One campaign.

Dale Tonge will be in charge of another Posh XI who are in action at non-league King’s Lynn on the same night with the squad expected to get 90 minutes across the two fixtures. The fixtures against the Hatters and the Linnets were moved to the Wednesday because of the forecasted sweltering temperatures on Tuesday.

The fixture against the Hatters is the first of two games against Championship opposition with Hull City visiting Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday (4pm). Posh go into the games unbeaten in pre-season after a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient, a 4-0 success at non-league Deeping Rangers and successive draws against Stevenage and Barnet.

Posh are without the services of Dan Butler (ankle) and Oliver Norburn (knee), but manager Grant McCann has delivered good news on the fitness of others. Nathan Thompson, Joel Randall, Jack Marriott, Harvey Cartwright, Kwame Poku and Ronnie Edwards are all available for selection and will feature in the games.

Joe Ward and Benjamin Mensah have picked up slight knocks and won’t be risked, but are expected to feature against the Tigers at the weekend.

“Luton had an excellent season last term and they have strengthened their squad in the summer so that game will be a good test for us and that is what we wanted at this stage of pre-season. The plan is for the squad to get 90 minutes either against Luton or at Kings Lynn and it will be a similar idea for the weekend,” Grant McCann said.
