Posh Women to begin their 2022/23 FA Women’s National League campaign with a trip to Sporting Khalsa.

Posh women are set to travel to the Guardian Warehousing Arena where they face Sporting Khalsa Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in their first game of the 2022/23 FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands season.

After Sporting Khalsa secured a 5-2 victory over Posh in the last game of the 2021/22 campaign, Posh will be looking to right the wrongs when they travel to Wolverhampton this weekend.

Team News

Dan Lawlor’s side will be without midfielders Megan Lawlor, Beatriz Borque, and Eden Bailey for Sunday’s fixture. Goalkeeper Kira Markwell will also be unavailable for the game.

Tara Mae Kirk returned to training on Wednesday and could feature in the squad for the time since joining the club over the summer. Anderia Oliveria has also been called up to the first team from the development squad.

“We have to turn up. We have to be 100% ready which I think we are. With a bit of an up and down pre-season in terms of squad members being available, I think the last few weeks, we have left ourselves in a really good position. Regardless of whatever the result may be on Sunday, I’m very excited to get the season started.

“I just want to add, I’m very proud of what my staff have done in the time I have been away. They deserve a lot of credit for getting the team to where it has been the last two weeks.

“Roll on Sunday, we’re ready, and I’m sure we will be bringing those three points back to Peterborough.”
