Shrewsbury Town v Posh

A look ahead to Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash between Shrewsbury Town and The Posh at Croud Meadow (3pm).

Peterborough United make the trip to Croud Meadow to face Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to consolidate a top two spot going into Christmas.

Posh currently sit second in the table following last week’s 1-0 victory at Fleetwood Town with the Shews beaten by league leaders Portsmouth 3-0. The Shrews are hard to beat though on their own ground and are especially dangerous from set-pieces.

TEAM NEWS

Posh goalkeeper Will Blackmore remains on the sidelines, but other than that Darren Ferguson has reported a clean bill of health for his squad and will work with a group of 22 for the festive fixtures with additional support coming from younger players from the under 21 squad.

Jeando Fuchs is back available for the first team after a long injury lay-off and will be part of that group. Striker Ryan Bowman was substituted at half-time for the Shrews in that defeat to Pompey so is fighting to retain his spot in the XI with Max Mata his likely replacement.

ONE TO WATCH

Striker Daniel Udoh (pictured below) has battled against injuries in the last two years, but there is no doubt he is a real threat at this level. Born in Nigeria, Udoh moved to England at the age of nine. When he became a teenager, he joined Luton Town’s development squad. He later moved onto the Stevenage academy on a two-year scholarship.

In March 2016, Udoh signed for Crewe Alexandra and made his first-team debut seven days later. However, in early 2017, Udoh spent a long period at Solihull Moors but then moved onto Halesowen Town. In June 2018, AFC Telford signed Udoh and the striker scored 26 goals in quick succession. In May 2019, he signed Salop on a two-year deal.

FROM THE MANAGER

“Aside from last year, we have always found Shrewsbury a difficult place to go and get a positive result. They are very good at home, don’t concede many goals and even against Portsmouth last time out, they were hard to break down despite the score-line. They are a threat from set-pieces, so we need to make sure we don’t give any needless ones away,” Darren Ferguson said.

TICKET NEWS

The game is not all-ticket and there is no price rise on the day for Posh supporters. As of 11am on Friday, 520 tickets had been sold for the fixture.

POSH+

The game is available to watch on Posh+ for overseas subscribers with £10 match passes available. Audio passes are available for £5 domestically. Nilesh Patel and Chris Dowsett are on commentary.

HEAD TO HEAD

Posh ran out 3-0 winners last season with Jonson Clarke-Harris, Jack Taylor and Ephron Mason-Clark on target in the win.
