Rotherham United v Posh

A look ahead to the Sky Bet League One trip to the New York Stadium as Posh travel to Rotherham United for the final day of the season (3pm).

Peterborough United conclude their Sky Bet League One campaign with a trip to Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon to face Rotherham United (3pm) with Darren Ferguson's men looking to bounce back from Wednesday night's disappointing 4-2 reverse at Mansfield Town.

The Millers, who started the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship, have had a difficult season with Steve Evans losing his job earlier this year.

Matty Hamshaw is now in charge of the club and they have seen an uptick in form since his arrival.

TEAM NEWS

Defenders Rio Adebisi, Emmanuel Fernandez and Oscar Wallin, alongside midfielders Archie Collins, Mahamadou Susoho and Cian Hayes are all out injured while the Posh boss also confirmed that Nicholas Bilokapic won't be involved at the New York Stadium.

Jadel Katongo is back in the squad and could start in his final appearance following a loan spell from Manchester City while Hector Kyprianou and Kwame Poku have played their last games for the club.

Jonson Clarke-Harris is unlikely to start for Rotherham against his former club after an injury-hampered campaign at the club.

MANAGER QUOTE

"I want us to finish with a strong performance because Wednesday night was nowhere near good enough and the players are well aware of that. The supporters have been magnificent this season, I think they understand it has been an unusual season for us, that is why I was so pleased to give them the day out at Wembley. Hopefully we can send them home happy on Saturday," Ferguson said.

ONE TO WATCH

Mallik Wilks

The Leeds-born flyer began his professional journey at Elland Road with his hometown club having progressed through the Academy ranks to turn pro in 2016.

His formative years were spent on loan with Accrington Stanley and Grimsby Town before he really announced himself in the EFL with a purple patch of form whilst enjoying a temporary switch to Doncaster Rovers in 2018.

An electric 2018/19 campaign with Rovers saw him heavily involved in their goalscoring exploits both as scorer and provider. In arguably his most successful spell to date, Wilks turned out 55 times across all competitions and helped himself to 11 goals as he led Doncaster’s charge up Sky Bet League One, which ultimately ended in Play-off heartbreak at the end of the campaign.

The next steps in his journey took him just across South Yorkshire to Barnsley before a loan spell at Hull City was turned permanent in 2020.

After impressing across over 70 appearances on Humberside, Wilks’ services were snapped up by Sheffield Wednesday, who facilitated his return to this corner of the county.

The talented wide player featured 18 times across all competitions for the Owls last season with his contribution helping them to stay in the second tier.
