Crowd at Abbey Lawn

Posh face Sheffield FC Women at the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon.

Peterborough United Women return to FA Women’s National League action on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they welcome Sheffield FC Women to the Abbey Lawn.

Dan Lawlor’s side secured the Northants County Cup on Thursday evening after a 9-0 thumping over Northampton Town Women Development Squad. Posh have the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run at home to seven games.

The two sides met last month in the reverse fixture as it ended in a 1-1 draw at The Home of Football Stadium. Sheffield have since then picked up three points against Long Eaton United, lifting them to eighth in the table.

Team News

Posh are able to welcome a number of players into the squad this weekend after Taylor Dean, Ellie York and Elloise Copson were all cup-tied for Thursday’s County Cup final, but are expected to return to the squad.

Rachel Lawrence will miss the game, while Jess Driscoll, Rosie Axten, Beatriz Borque, Zaiga Lacite and Eden Bailey remain out due to injury.

Manager Dan Lawlor will serve the second of his two-game ban after receiving a red card against Sporting Khalsa back in February and won’t be on the sideline against Sheffield FC Women.

From The First Team Coach

“We want to see an improvement from our last performance against Sheffield, we could have done better. They made it difficult for us and they had their chances, but we just want to keep building on the positive performances. We have a really strong home record, we don’t concede many and been looking really solid at the Abbey Lawn, so we want to continue with that and give a better account of ourselves than we did away from home.”

Ticket News

Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for seniors, £2 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters will be able to pay on the gate.
