Posh Women face The Magpies on Wednesday evening at Abbey Lawn.

Peterborough United Women continue their FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands campaign on Wednesday evening (7:45pm) as they welcome Notts County Women under the lights at Abbey Lawn.

Dan Lawlor’s side will be looking to continue their winning ways after Sunday’s 5-2 victory over Sheffield FC Women, thanks to goals from Emily Brett, Niamh Connor, Keir Perkins and Evie Driscoll-King.

The Magpies, who secured promotion to the FA Women’s National League for the first time this season, are currently sat tenth in the table, just above the relegation zone, and secured a 2-0 win against Solihull Moors on Sunday afternoon on the road.

Team News

Lawlor confirmed that he has a full squad at his disposal with no injuries sustained from the weekend. Ellie York remains a long-term absentee as she recovers from an ACL injury.

Despite spending a few weeks on the sidelines, Captain Keir Perkins has matched forward Tara Kirk on the score sheet after netting her ninth league goal this season, leaving them as the club’s current top goalscorers.

Notts County’s had an unfortunate incident over the weekend, as Laura Vine broke her collar bone during their game on Sunday.

From The Gaffer

“We were superb, ruthless in front of goal and created chance after chance [on Sunday]. We’ve got some wonderful, talented players at this football club, the way they conducted themselves and their performance was at a real elite level.” Lawlor said to Posh+.

“For me it’s about building momentum , winning at all costs, playing for the badge, playing for me and playing for their teammates as they certainly did that on Sunday.”

“We need to focus on what makes us a good team and I know when we’re as good as we can be, it’s going to take an unbelievable Tier 4 team to beat us. It’s not about changing things, it’s about being us more and getting that consistency level. We’re in a great place and we’ve got to string some performances today because we’ve got some tough fixtures coming up.”

One To Watch

Current top-scorer for The Magpies is Takiah Burnett who has netted six times in 16 appearances so far this season.

Posh Women ran out 4-2 winners in the reverse fixture at the RM Stadium back in October thanks to goals from Katie Middleton, Sophie Scargill, Rosie Axten and Renai Bennett who netted her first for the club.
