Posh Women host Leek Town in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.

Peterborough United Women host Leek Town Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm) at Abbey Lawn in their latest FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture as they look to continue their winning streak.

Dan Lawlor’s side secured three points during their midweek game against Notts County as they won 6-1 with goals from Emily Brett, Tara Kirk, Jess Driscoll, Niamh Connor, Poppie Brown and Ella Hilliard. They are currently fourth in the table on 34 points, four points off top with a game in hand over Loughborough.

Opponents Leek Town are currently sat ninth on 14 points, having won three and drawn five of their 16 matches this season. They were defeated 4-0 by league leaders Loughborough Lightning on Thursday evening.

Team News

Dan Lawlor continues to utilise the squad depth as he manages players minutes during the final stretch of the season. Ellie York remains a long term absentee as she recovers from her ACL injury.

In other news, Ian Smith was re-appointed as First Team Manager for Leek Town Ladies at the beginning of the month. Smith stepped down as Manager at the end of the 22/23 season to concentrate on his role as Director of Women’s. He will be assisted by interim Coach James Cliff.

From The Gaffer

Lawlor spoke to Posh+ ahead of the game, “It’ll be a tough game against Leek as they’ve had some good results recently so we know we’ve got to be at it in order to get a result. If we perform anything like the last two games we’ve just played, I know I can be very confident coming into Sunday’s fixture.”

“We’re a different animal at the moment and I can’t give them anymore than praise than we have. I’m really happy with where we are at; what we’re doing on the training pitch is coming out in matches. We’re probably in the best form we’ve been in all season and I hope we can keep pushing and keep getting results- let’s see where that takes us.”

One To Watch

Forwards Manuele Delle and Chantelle Gallagher will be looking to cause problems for the Posh defence at the weekend having both netted eight times this campaign.

Last Time Out

Posh took all three points in the reverse fixture back in September as they won 3-1 at F Ball Community Stadium. Manuele Delle initially took the lead before Jess Evans, Sophie Scargill and Katie Middleton secured the comeback for Posh.
