The Posh Women entertain Leafield Athletic Ladies on Sunday (3pm).

Peterborough United Women welcome Leafield Athletic Ladies to the idverde training ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands as the two sides meet each other for the first time this season after postponements earlier in the year.

Dan Lawlor’s side secured a point against Leek Town Ladies last Sunday after Keir Perkins netted her 20th goal of the campaign, extending Posh unbeaten run at home to three games. Leafield Athletic suffered a heavy defeat last time out against league leaders Boldmere St Michael.

Team News

Posh remain without midfielders Katie Steward and Stacey McConville for Sunday’s game against Leafield Athletic, with the former continuing light jogging sessions in training yesterday. Faith Horner missed last weekend’s draw against Leek Town Ladies and will remain unavailable for the next couple of weeks.

Leafield Athletic have been busy bolstering their squad in the last few weeks as they welcome defender Layla Hart from Solihull Moors and Kathryn Pagan from Wem Town Ladies, who both made their debuts in the 5-0 defeat to Boldmere St Michaels last weekend.

From the Gaffer

“This is an unusual scenario facing a team that we haven’t played yet with just six games to go, we don’t know much about them, but I’m sure they don’t know much about us either. However, as I have previously mentioned, if we arrive with the right attitude, then we can give any team in this division a proper challenge and we need to turn up with that mentality in these final six games, as the bottom half of the table is very close at the minute and a few bad results can push you in the wrong direction.

“Our last few performances in the league have been positive and definitely deserved more than we got in terms of points, but we need to start turning those performances into results, starting on Sunday against Leafield Athletic.”

Ticket News

Fans will be able to watch the game at the Idverde training ground. Admission is £3 for adults. To gain access, come to the main gate, where you will be met by a steward and directed where to go.

The Reserves

Posh Women reserve travel to Leicestershire on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they face Anstey Nomads Women in the East Midlands Womens Regional Football League Division One South.

Ammar Qadeer took charge of his first game for the reserves last Sunday as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Thrapston Town Ladies while Anstey Nomads beat Oadby & Wigston Ladies DBU 5-1 as they continue to close the gap on Derby County FC Women Academy for the title.
