The Posh Women welcome Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday (3pm).

Peterborough United Women are back at the idverde training ground for the third consecutive week as they entertain promotion-hopefuls Doncaster Rovers Belles in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday afternoon (3pm).

Dan Lawlor’s side have yet to lose at home in 2022, extending their unbeaten run to four games last Sunday after a 1-1 draw with Leafield Athletic. Doncaster Rovers Belles recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Burton Albion earlier this month, as they remain nine points behind league leaders Boldmere St Michaels with two games in hand.

Team News

Katie Steward made her return to the matchday squad on Sunday against Leafield Athletic after dislocating her thumb back in January, making an impressive 10-minute cameo and will be available once again for this weekend. Midfielder Faith Horner could also return against Doncaster Rovers Belles after being side-line for the last few weeks due to injury while Evie Driscoll-King will also be available for selection.

Posh remain without Stacey McConville, but the midfielder has slowly return to training out on the pitch and hopes to return before the end of the season.

Belles’ forward Jasmine Saxton is currently the leading topscorer in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands with 14 goals.

From the Gaffer

“The overall performance against Leafield Athletic wasn’t good enough, we established that and now want to move on from that and focus on Sunday’s game. Defensively we were very strong once again, plus despite not playing anywhere near our best, we haven’t lost and gained another point towards safety. So, they’re positives to take that away from that draw, but our performance was nowhere where it should have been.”

“If Belles don’t get a result on Sunday, then it’s pretty much over for them, so they will be fired up for it. They’re a good attacking team that scores a great amount of goals, but we have to go out there and impose ourselves on the game more than what we have done over the last couple of weeks.”

Ticket News

Fans will be able to watch the game at the Idverde training ground. Admission is £3 for adults. To gain access, come to the main gate, where you will be met by a steward and directed where to go.

The Reserves

Posh Women reserves welcome Coalville Town Ravenettes Ladies to the idverde training ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm) in the East Midlands Womens Regional Football League. This game will take place on pitch two, on the grass, due to the first-team also playing at home at the same time.

Ammar Qadeer’s side were beaten 4-0 by Anstey Nomands Women last Sunday while Coalville Town Ravenettes also fell to a 5-0 defeat against Oadby & Wigston Ladies DBU.
