A look ahead to Good Friday's Sky Bet League One meeting with Stockport County at the Weston Homes Stadium (3pm).
Peterborough United return to Sky Bet League One action on Good Friday when they welcome promotion hopefuls Stockport County to the Weston Homes Stadium (3pm) with both sides needing points for different reasons.
After the stunning success in the Vertu Trophy final against League One Champions Birmingham City on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, Darren Ferguson's men will be looking for points to secure their status in the division after back to back defeats in the league prior to the clash against the Blues in front of over 71,000 last weekend.
Stockport have not given up hope of muscling into the automatic promotion picture and sit in fourth place behind Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham who are fighting for the runners-up slot.
TEAM NEWS
Defender Sam Hughes is unable to feature for Posh due to the terms of his loan agreement while Tayo Edun remains suspended. Rio Adebisi is out, while there are one or two other knocks in the Posh camp.
Emmanuel Fernandez did not come off in the second half against Birmingham with concussion, so won't have to abide by any protocols in that regard.
Carl Johnston is available after missing the win over Birmingham City due to his ineligibility after playing in the competition for Fleetwood Town.
Stockport are not expected to make wholesale changes to their line-up with Kyle Wootton and Isaac Olaofe set to lead the line.
MANAGER QUOTE
"Sunday was a brilliant day for everybody connected with the football club and whilst it was important to celebrate the achievement, we couldn't go overboard because we have league games to play and important ones too. We have to use the momentum of Sunday, we have a tricky run-in on paper and Stockport will be a tough game because they are fighting for promotion. They haven't got the credit they deserve, probably because of the fact Birmingham and Wrexham are in the division, but they have had a superb campaign," Ferguson said.
ONE TO WATCH
Isaac Olaofe
Isaac Olaofe (pictured below) came through the youth system of Millwall, and spent time on loan with Sutton United and St Johnstone. He returned to Sutton on loan for the 2020–21 season and was the club's top scorer that season with 16 goals, helping them win the league to be promoted to the Football League for the first time in their history.
He was once again loaned to Sutton the following season. After making his Millwall debut in 2022, he signed for Stockport County in 2023. He was the top scorer for Stockport with 20 goals in the 2023–24 season as they were crowned champions of League Two.
Olaofe has been a regular goal-scorer for the Hatters this season, forming an effective partnership with Kyle Wootton for Stockport this term. He is a powerful front man, who is good with his back to goal as well as running in behind.
