A look ahead to Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Shrewsbury Town.

Peterborough United welcome Shrewsbury Town to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) as Darren Ferguson’s men look to bounce back from the weekend defeat to league leaders Sheffield Wednesday.

The Shrews, who are managed by the experienced Steve Cotterill, are in fine form and came from 2-0 down to earn a point against Derby County at Pride Park thanks to two goals in a stirring second half display from Tom Bayliss and Luke Leahy.

This game was originally due to take place in December 2022, but was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

TEAM NEWS

Posh defender Dan Butler is back in the squad after missing the weekend trip to Hillsborough due to illness. Josh Knight is serving the second of a three-match ban and will miss out, but midfielder Ollie Norburn came through his first start since returning from a serious knee injury without any problems and is fit to start should the manager choose too.

Rekeil Pyke and Carl Winchester are both pushing for starts for the Shrews after both helped change the course of the game against the Rams. Both were introduced when Derby were leading 2-0 at the interval and played key roles in the turnaround.

ONE TO WATCH

Luke Leahy (pictured below) is in wonderful form for the Shrews and has contributed both in assists and goals this season after moving into midfield. The penalty king in the division, Leahy is deadly from 12-yards and is a hugely popular member of the squad. He started his career at Rugby Town and went on to play for Walsall and Bristol Rovers before signing a two-year contract at Shrewsbury in the summer of 2021.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Shrewsbury are a tough side to play against. They had a great result at Derby and I have watched it back and they could have actually won the game in the second half. You know what you are going to get, they are well organised, have a physical edge and will keep going right until the end. You have to be switched on, but equally we have to do our things right in terms of how we can hurt them,” Ferguson said.
