Posh v Burton Albion

A look ahead to Saturday’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Burton Albion at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United welcome Burton Albion to the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to build on the last league fixture, which was, of course, the big win over local rivals Cambridge United.

Albion are managed by Dino Maamria and were 2-1 winners over Mansfield Town in midweek in the group phase of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. That was their first win in six games following an impressive spell of results earlier in the campaign.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Will Blackmore due to injury, while midfielder Jeando Fuchs won’t feature after playing 45 minutes on his comeback from a muscle injury in midweek. He is due to feature for the under 21s next Friday for an hour and then a decision will be made on whether he features in the trophy knockout game.

Ronnie Edwards, Hector Kyprianou and Jadel Katongo are all back after international duty and available for selection. Edwards played the most during his time away with the England elite squad with Kyprianou featuring for 45 minutes against Spain and 10 minutes against Slovenia for his country Cyprus.

Tom Hamer has now joined a growing injury list that includes John Brayford, Jasper Moon and Sam Hughes, while midfielder Joe Powell is suspended. Kwadwo Baah is back in the squad and will add to the Burton attacking options.

ONE TO WATCH

Cole Stockton (pictured below) joined the Brewers from Morecambe, where he had enjoyed two prolific seasons in the North West. Stockton, who has a penchant for the spectacular, has made a slow start in terms of goals at the Pirelli Stadium, but he has been hampered by injuries. Stockton is good with his back to goal, works hard for the team and will be a threat.

FROM THE MANAGER

“Burton are a well organised side, they went on a good unbeaten run earlier in the campaign and although their results haven’t been as strong of late, they are a team that can cause you problems. Against Cambridge, we were patient to break down a stubborn team and we may have to be patient on Saturday, but the lads know the ways they can cause the opposition problems,” Darren Ferguson said.

Tickets are available at www.theposhtickets.com and via the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office. The Deskgo Stand is open for Posh fans with junior clubs across the region taking up an offer to attend the fixture. Burton fans will be accommodated in the North Stand of the Main Stand.
