Portsmouth v Posh (Carabao Cup)

Posh travel to Fratton Park in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

Peterborough United make the first of two trips to Fratton Park this week on Tuesday night as Darren Ferguson’s men meet fellow Sky Bet League One side Portsmouth in the second round of the Carabao Cup (7.45pm).

The two sides clash again in league action on Saturday afternoon – the second year in a row Posh face a double header away from home in league and cup following trips to Plymouth Argyle under Grant McCann last term.

TEAM NEWS

Midfielder Jeando Fuchs and goalkeeper Will Blackmore are both out through injury, but Ferguson has confirmed in an interview with Posh+ that he will change his entire XI from the weekend defeat to Derby County, with the substitutes bench set to be made up of young players, some of which could be 16 years old.

That will provide opportunities for the likes of defender Josh Knight and midfielder Ryan De Havilland, while Fynn Talley is set to be between the sticks. Portsmouth have hinted they might make plenty of changes to their line-up too with Kusini Yengi, who has been amongst the goals in the opening month of the campaign in line for a start.

ONE TO WATCH

If Pompey do go strong, front man Colby Bishop (picture below) is a physical threat and certainly knows where the goal is. The former Accrington Stanley front man is strong with his back to goal, excellent in the air and comes alive in the six-yard box.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I want to make it clear that I will change the entire XI from the game at the weekend. I think it is a really good opportunity for those players to show what they can do an I am really looking forward to the game. We want to be competitive in every fixture that we play and Tuesday night is absolutely no different. We know that it will be a tough game, we don’t know whether they will change much of their line-up, but whatever team they select will be full of talent,” Darren Ferguson said.
