The Posh Women are on the road for the final time this season.

Peterborough United Women face their final away trip of the season in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they travel to Dickens Heath Sports Club to face Leafield Athletic Ladies.

Dan Lawlor’s side retained their place in the FA Women’s National League for next season after an emphatic 5-0 victory over Wem Town Ladies last weekend, extending their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions. Leafield Athletic suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Lincoln City last time out, leaving them five points above the relegation zone.

Team News

Midfielder Stacey McConville is set to be available for this weekend’s game against Leafield Athletic after making a remarkable return last Sunday to score twice in the victory over Wem Town Ladies, but is still a few weeks away from making the starting eleven.

Faith Horner could also make her return to the squad on Sunday after participating in training this week as she recovered from a slight knock suffered in the Northants County Cup Semi-Final tie last month.

Beatriz Borque will miss the trip to Dickens Heath Sports Club after picking up an injury last weekend that forced her off just after the hour mark, while defender Evie Driscoll-King will also be unavailable.

From the Gaffer

“After achieving our status in the National League for next season, the motivation now for the rest of the campaign is to finish as high as we can, win our next three games and take positive momentum into the cup final. There’s still a lot to play for and we have four huge games left, starting on Sunday against Leafield.

“We didn’t do ourselves much justice when we last faced Leafield, and we still managed to pick up a point. They’re a tough side, attack with plenty of pace, and because of their current situation, they will probably be even harder to break down. However, we just have to focus on our own performance and if we can replicate Sunday’s display, then I’m confident we can pick up the three points.”

The Reserves

Posh Women reserves return to East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South action for the final time this season as they travel to Dunton and Broughton United Football Club to face Oadby & Wigston Ladies DBU on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

The reserves were narrowly beaten by Coalville Town Ravenettes Ladies last time out in the league while Oadby & Wigston Ladies beat Kettering Town Women 3-1 last weekend. Ammar Qadeer’s side have already achieved safety in their debut campaign in East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League and will look to finish the season strongly on Sunday.
